Cybersecurity for the Confused

By Sheldon Greaves

On 25 April I gave a presentation to the Corvallis Academy for Lifelong Learning on the subject of cybersecurity. Here is my blurb that I wrote for the presentation:

Data breaches are part of a world where cyberspace is both marketplace and battlefield. Data is stolen, destroyed, altered, or held hostage with very tangible results. In this presentation, we will look at the world of cybercrime and cyber warfare; what happens to stolen data? How do break-ins happen? Who are the players, both good guys and bad guys? We will also explore the “dark web” where stolen data finds buyers, and how we can protect ourselves and our personal information.

Here is my handout, and here are my slides.

And here is the obligatory tech noire graphic, to lend further credibility.
